Events

Together for Good informs travelers about potential opportunities to give back on vacations, but we also occasionally lead voluntourism-focused social media influencer events and group trips that focus on making a difference, meeting new friends and having fun while giving back to others. Our events and group trips take place both on land and at sea. Check back frequently for more details.

Group Trips

Together for Good has organized and participated in a number of voluntourism-focused trips with influencers and other groups. These trips have taken place at resorts and cruises throughout the Caribbean. These trips have offered numerous opportunities for combining philanthropic social impact work and cultural exchange with fun vacation activities and excursions including:

Together for Good group trips have taken place at resorts in the Caribbean and on cruise ships. One of our largest group trips was the Cruise4Haiti, a cruise event organized with several influencers to benefit the people of Haiti. Over 30 humanitarian travelers joined the cruise, which raised significant funds and in-kind donations for charities assisting Haiti and provided aid to children’s organizations in all three ports of call. With the help of Royal Caribbean, the Cruise4Haiti delivered over 6,000 pounds of aid to Haiti to benefit For Haiti With Love’s medical clinic, orphanage and food bank projects in Cap Haitien. The event raised $5500 in cash donations and over $25,000 in in-kind donations for two charities, Airline Ambassadors and For Haiti With Love. In addition, the Cruise4Haiti delivered almost 200 pounds of clothing, toys, school supplies, medicines and sports equipment to the I Can Foundation in St. Maarten and La Casa Cuna de San Juan Orphanage in San Juan, Puerto Rico.  Over 3 million impressions in print articles and online media were generated as well.

Influencer Events and Tweet-Ups for Good SM

In addition to voluntourism trips, Together for Good also promotes networking and media events that have a philanthropic component, such as giving back to community organizations with significant needs or benefits for local charities. These events often bring together groups of high profile social media influencers to help promote voluntourism, making a difference and giving back to others.

These events can take many forms, including Tweet-Up for Good SM activities. These events typically involve groups of social media influencers and are done in partnership with a resort, cruise line, destination or foundation/charity, combining marketing and networking with the goal of giving back to others. These events benefit communities, non-profit organizations and travel partners through generating greater assistance for community projects, increased awareness of local community commitments, higher participation in giving back efforts, enhanced media coverage and market positioning while also assisting local charities and community organizations. Tweet Up for Good SM events work by connecting three key trends: marketing and promotion through social media; togethering with friends and family; and the growth of voluntourism/doing good as an important part of one’s life experience.

On a Tweet-Up for Good SM event done in conjunction with Norwegian Cruise Line, for example, social media influencers sailed out of New Orleans and volunteered at community projects, gave back to schools and children’s organizations, and helped local groups in every port of call. Onboard activities were coordinated as well. A detailed voluntourism-based itinerary was created to show independent cruise vacationers how they could combine making a difference with an individual cruise vacation. In the six months following the event and publication of the itinerary, Together for Good heard from over 250 individuals and groups who booked the cruise and followed in our footsteps. Millions of media impressions were contributed as well.
